In these difficult times, many families are facing hard choices — and sadly, some pets are paying the price. Shelters are overwhelmed as more dogs are abandoned or surrendered, often by owners facing job loss or financial hardship.
One emotional story from Orlando, Florida, shows just how deep that struggle goes.
Unable to care for his beloved pit bull, Lincoln, a man tied him to a neighbor’s tree in the middle of the night. Alongside Lincoln, he left a handwritten note:
“I’m leaving to California to be with my family. Please take care of Lincoln or find him a good home. I trust you with my baby. I’m sorry.”
Though the neighbor couldn’t keep him, a local rescue group — The Pittie Party of Central Florida (TPPCF) — stepped in. Volunteer Mayson Jones brought Lincoln home, offering him comfort and care.
Soon after, Melanie Anderson offered to foster him. Now, Lincoln enjoys boat rides, sunshine, and a safe place to heal.
His story is sadly common. Shelters are urging the public to become foster families. TPPCF covers all costs — all that’s needed is love and space.
“Foster families are the true heroes,” the rescue shared.
You can be one, too.
