Buffalo at.*ack claims life of Texas ranch millionaire on South African h*nt.

A tragic hunting accident in Limpopo, South Africa, claimed the life of 52-year-old Asher Watkins, a prominent Texas ranch realtor. While tracking a Cape buffalo during a guided safari on August 3, the massive animal suddenly charged, fatally goring Watkins. He died instantly, according to safari company Coenraad Vermaak Safaris, who confirmed the buffalo was uninjured.

Watkins, founder of Watkins Ranch Group, was known for his success in luxury ranch real estate across Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. A lifelong outdoorsman and member of the Dallas Safari Club, he often shared his hunting experiences online. His mother, stepfather, and brother were waiting at a nearby lodge when the incident occurred.

The safari company released a statement expressing sorrow, calling Watkins a friend and valued client. His ex-wife, Courtney, and their teenage daughter, Savannah, have also publicly acknowledged the heartbreaking loss.

Cape buffalo are known for their unpredictable nature and immense power, capable of killing even experienced hunters. Often called “Black Death,” they are among Africa’s most dangerous animals.

Watkins’ death has reignited conversations around big game hunting and the risks involved, especially with animals as volatile as Cape buffalo. His passing leaves a void in both the real estate and hunting communities.
