Picasso, a 5-year-old dog born with a crooked snout, and Newt, just 1 year old and missing his upper jaw, may look different, but their bond is something truly special. Both rescued by Liesl Wilhardt, founder of Luvable Dog Rescue in Oregon, these two pups have found joy, love, and a best friend in each other.

Picasso was adopted by Liesl in 2017, and Newt joined the family in 2021 after surviving a severe injury caused by his mother. Despite their facial differences and medical challenges, they now live happily together on 55 acres of open land.
Their days are filled with play, snuggles, and adventures. Picasso immediately took to Newt’s playful nature, and their connection has only deepened with time. They’re not just survivors — they’re thrivers.

People who meet them often express surprise at how joyful and affectionate they are. But Picasso and Newt don’t see themselves as broken — and neither does Liesl.
Their story is a powerful reminder that love, friendship, and happiness aren’t about perfection. They’re about heart.
Together, Picasso and Newt show us what true beauty really looks like.
