Trump Allies Discuss Resolution To Void President’s Two Impeachments

President Donald Trump and some Republican allies are discussing a congressional resolution to expunge his 2019 and 2021 impeachments. The proposal would be largely symbolic, as the U.S. Constitution provides no process to reverse an impeachment after it occurs. Trump called the impeachments “rigged” and said he would be honored if Congress acted. House Speaker Mike Johnson supports exploring the idea, while legal scholars remain divided. Supporters argue new information undermines the impeachment cases, but critics say Congress lacks the authority to erase historical constitutional actions. Even if introduced, the measure faces uncertain prospects in Congress.
