Speeding along a quiet Kentucky road, a driver spotted what looked like debris—until they realized it was a tiny puppy, tethered to a tree. Just six or seven weeks old, the fragile brown-and-white pup sat silently, waiting for help. The driver quickly contacted the local shelter, and rescuers arrived within minutes.
“She was just so stoic,” said Kim Desroches of Friends of Lewis County Animals. Named Ladybird, the puppy was taken to the shelter but needed more than a kennel—she needed care and love.
Kim immediately searched for a foster home. “A shelter isn’t ideal for a young pup,” she said. A volunteer stepped up, and soon Ladybird began to flourish—wagging her tail, playing, and showing her true spirit.
Through a partnership with Licking County Humane Society, Ladybird’s journey continues toward adoption. Once abandoned, she now has a future filled with hope, love, and the family she always deserved.
