Lunetta was found tied to a railing on the streets of Salta, Argentina—paralyzed, dehydrated, and abandoned with nothing but a bag of diapers and a heartbreaking note. Her back legs were strapped to a rusted wheelchair, and she lay helpless, left by owners who could no longer care for her.
A nearby dog care worker spotted her and quickly contacted Luba Salta Rescue, who rushed her to safety. In a foster home, her story was shared online, and soon an American family stepped forward to adopt her. But unprepared for her medical needs, they unintentionally neglected her, leading to a serious staph infection.
When her future once again seemed uncertain, another American family stepped in—this time with open arms and proper care. Lunetta thrived. She gained a canine sister, a custom wheelchair, and the freedom to explore parks, play in the snow, and celebrate holidays.
After celebrating her 11th birthday, Lunetta fell seriously ill and passed away surrounded by love.
“She changed my life forever,” her adoptive mom wrote. “I loved her so much.”
