The chances of having twins rose by 72% between 1980 and 2018, yet twins remain rare—only 33 in every 1,000 births. Identical twins are even rarer, at about 3 or 4 per 1,000. But when 23-year-old Savannah Combs from Florida learned she was expecting identical twins with Down syndrome, she discovered she was carrying something incredibly rare—possibly one in two million.

Despite being advised to terminate the pregnancy, Savannah chose to continue, cherishing every prenatal appointment as a blessing. Her husband, Justin Ackerman, was away at boot camp when she gave birth early, at 29 weeks. The twins, Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, were born on May 12, 2021, and spent weeks in the NICU before coming home.

“They’re mono-di twins—sharing a placenta but in separate sacs,” Savannah explained. She documents their journey on TikTok, where the girls have become an inspiration. Though some have posted cruel comments, Savannah responded with strength: “Good thing they weren’t born to you and were born to me.”

Savannah wants the world to see her daughters’ worth. “They have hearts, feelings, and so much love. They will achieve great things.”

These girls are rare, beautiful, and deeply loved.
