DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Ga. — A routine emergency transport turned into chaos early Saturday morning when a Dougherty County EMS ambulance was struck in a multi-vehicle collision, injuring eight people, including a newborn baby.

The crash happened just after 7 a.m. at the intersection of Pine Avenue and Monroe Street, a typically busy crossing during morning hours. The impact was so severe that the ambulance rolled onto its side, quickly drawing additional emergency crews to the scene. Flashing lights, damaged vehicles, and heavy smoke filled the intersection as traffic was brought to a standstill. Witnesses described the moment as shocking and difficult to process.

Authorities confirmed that three EMS workers and two patients were inside the ambulance at the time of the crash. One of the patients was a newborn infant. All five occupants of the ambulance, along with three people from other vehicles involved in the collision, were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officials have not yet released information about the conditions of the injured, but said first responders acted rapidly to stabilize everyone at the scene.

The incident has left the community shaken, highlighting how quickly ordinary moments can turn into emergencies. Messages of prayer and support continue to pour in, especially for the newborn and the EMS crew, as investigators work to determine the cause of the crash.
