The saying goes, “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” and Richard Huff is living proof of why that matters.
At 51, Richard has over 240 tattoos, covering 85% of his body—including his face. His love for ink began on his legs and grew into a passion for body art and self-expression. His appearance, however, has drawn unfair criticism, especially from those who don’t look past the tattoos.
Richard is a devoted husband and father of five. His wife, Marita, admits she was initially intimidated by his looks but soon discovered his kind heart. “He’s the most loving man I’ve ever known,” she says. Richard has embraced her children from previous relationships as his own, and he’s an active participant in their lives—attending school events, joining the PTA, and always being present.
Despite his devotion, strangers often judge him, with some calling him a “bad dad” solely based on his appearance. But Richard remains unfazed. “We’re happy, our kids are happy, and that’s all that matters,” he says.
Supporters agree: tattoos don’t define character. Richard may not look like a “typical” dad, but he’s proving every day that love, not appearance, makes a great parent.
