More than four decades after Natalie Wood’s death, the mystery surrounding what happened on the night she disappeared from the yacht Splendour continues to attract attention.
Wood was aboard the yacht near Catalina Island with her husband, actor Robert Wagner, actor Christopher Walken, and captain Dennis Davern when she disappeared in November 1981. Her body was found the following morning.
The case was reopened in 2011, and her death was later classified as “drowning and other undetermined factors.” In 2018, Los Angeles County investigators named Wagner a person of interest, while emphasizing that he had not been charged with a crime.
Conflicting accounts of that night, along with questions surrounding the evidence, have kept the case in the public spotlight. Wagner has denied involvement, and no one has been charged in connection with Wood’s death.
For now, one of Hollywood’s most enduring mysteries remains officially unresolved.
