Angelica was born in 2018 with a distinctive heart-shaped port wine stain on her face—a unique mark her parents, Marianna and her family from Adelaide, South Australia, embraced with love. They saw it as a beautiful part of her identity.
Unfortunately, not everyone shared their view. Angelica faced cruel bullying and hurtful comments from strangers, some calling her “hideous” and “defective.” Marianna revealed that people even doubted Angelica would ever find love. One particularly painful comment compared her face to a grilled skillet. At a soccer game, someone told Marianna her daughter was a “defect,” leaving her shocked.
Despite suggestions to cover the birthmark with makeup or wait for it to fade, Marianna stood firm, proud of her daughter’s beauty. She condemns the cruelty and urges people to think before speaking, reminding them that Angelica is just a baby.
To show solidarity, in 2020 Marianna painted hearts on her and her older daughter’s faces to mimic Angelica’s birthmark, symbolizing unity.
Angelica is healthy, with regular check-ups to monitor potential complications like glaucoma. Today, she is a confident little girl, fearless and loved deeply by her family.
