For decades, Karen Grassle stayed silent about her experience on Little House on the Prairie. Now, her memoir reveals a side of Michael Landon that fans rarely saw. Grassle describes a set where Landon held enormous power as star, writer, producer, and director. She says she was paid less than male colleagues despite carrying major emotional storylines. When she asked for equal pay, she recalls scripts becoming smaller and their relationship growing colder. She also describes off-color jokes, drinking, and a boys’ club atmosphere. Grassle does not call Landon a monster, but portrays a complicated man whose control came at a painful cost.
