After two agonizing days, the search for 10-year-old Dulce Victoria ended in tragedy. The young girl, who was swept away by the Lerma River near Salamanca, was found lifeless Saturday morning, ending the community’s desperate hope for a miracle.
The Salamanca Municipal Government expressed deep condolences to Dulce’s family and thanked the emergency crews, volunteer divers, firefighters, and rescue teams who joined the search.
The incident began Thursday afternoon when Dulce and another child reportedly fell into the river while playing near the water. The boy managed to grab a tree and was rescued.
Dulce’s death has left the community mourning and serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers of playing near fast-moving water.
