A disturbing scam preying on compassionate people is making the rounds, and one mom is sounding the alarm. Nancy Walsh, a real estate agent, shared a viral warning after spotting an abandoned stroller on a remote, tree-lined road.
“If you see a stroller, car seat, or baby item alone in the middle of nowhere, don’t get out,” she posted on Facebook, alongside eerie photos of the scene. Her car was the only one around, and the stroller sat on a grassy verge—silent, strange, and potentially dangerous.
Online commenters quickly responded, calling it a known scam. Criminals use abandoned baby gear to lure people out of their vehicles, then rob or carjack them. “It’s bait,” warned one user. “Lock your doors and call 911.”
While some noted that strollers are sometimes left out for donation, most agreed the risk is too high. Similar scams involve fake medical emergencies or cries for help, preying on good-hearted drivers.
One woman even said police warned her not to approach someone lying roadside—it was likely a setup.
Walsh’s message has been shared over 23,000 times. Her advice is simple but vital:
Help when you can—but do it safely.
