When rescuers discovered a tiny, underweight pit bull puppy curled up inside a small plum box, they knew he needed help. Though they brought him to safety, the pup—soon lovingly named Plum—refused to leave his box. It had become his shelter, his comfort, his only sense of home.
Shared on Instagram (@plumpelstiltskin_), a photo of Plum tucked tightly into his cardboard haven captured hearts. At the LifeLine Animal Project, staff gave him time, patience, and love. Though gentle by nature, Plum was gripped by fear. Still, day by day, he began to trust—first in his caretakers, then in the wider world.
Slowly, Plum stepped out of his box and into new experiences. His personality blossomed. When a potential adopter showed interest, there was concern: they had another dog, and Plum hadn’t always done well with others. But when they met, it was a perfect match.
Now, Plum is healthy, happy, and truly home. With his adoption proudly announced on Instagram, Plum began a new chapter—no longer defined by fear, but by the love of a forever family.
“I’m officially part of a new family!” his page reads. “Thank you to everyone who believed in me.”
