Heartbreak As Dog Cruelly Tied To Tree In Missouri Looks Around, Hoping To See His Owners

Nobody should ever know how painful it feels to be let down by the people you love the most.

Unfortunately, just like humans, dogs experience heartbreak and betrayal from their beloved owners.

Oak, a one-year-old pup, was betrayed by his loved ones.

On the day when his owners dumped him, Oak thought they were taking him for a ride, and they brought him to a place he had never visited before.

They tied him to a tree behind Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a shelter in Missouri, and left him there.

The faithful pup watched his family as they disappeared in the distance not knowing he would never see them again.

Waiting In Vain

The pup didn’t know what was going on at first. He was lying under the tree and looking around, convinced that he would soon see his family returning for him.

While the shelter staff and volunteers were taking dogs for a walk, they spotted Oak tethered to a magnolia tree. His beautiful eyes were dimmed with sadness.

The staff felt devastated for the pup. They knew that they had to help him, although the shelter was forced to suspend taking in dogs since they were over capacity.

While some shelter members rushed to create a temporary place to accommodate him, one of the volunteers approached Oak and started speaking to him, hoping to win him over.

Oak refused to move at first. He still held onto the hope that his people would return.

“He didn’t want to get up, he just started looking around frantically for his people. But they’re not coming back,” Stray Rescue of St. Louis wrote on Facebook.

The volunteer persisted and cuddled Oak until he felt reassured that he would get help.

Searching For A Home Filled With Love

Once the dog started believing them, the volunteer untied him from the tree and brought him inside.

“This guy is safe, we are taking him in, but we are setting up ANOTHER crate in a very loud and chaotic room. This is breaking our hearts,” the Missouri shelter added.

Instead of a cozy home, Oak found himself in a noisy shelter, but at least he was safe and surrounded by good people who wanted to help him.

The staff hopes that Oak will soon move into a home where he can relax.

Although he goes on his daily walks and hangs out with his friends, the doggo spends the majority of his time in his kennel.

The sweet pup has charmed everyone at the shelter with his affectionate nature.

He likes cuddling with his new shelter friends, who believe that Oak will soon find his perfect match.
