280 People to Jump into the Sea

A fire broke out aboard the KM Barcelona ferry near Talise Island, Indonesia, on July 20, 2025, forcing around 280 passengers to jump into the sea wearing life jackets. Local authorities, fishermen, and the Coast Guard quickly launched a rescue operation, saving most of those on board. At least five people, including a pregnant woman, died, while several others were injured.
