In California, Kerri and Larry Ruiz experienced every pet ownerâs nightmare when a coyote jumped into their backyard and snatched their Chihuahua, Chico.

The couple says they keep air horns at every exit, just in case. This time, it saved a life.
Chico, though injured with a broken rib and scratches, is recovering well and surrounded by love. The Ruizes now warn others never to leave pets unattended outdoors.
