Picture this – you crest a green hill and a sea of wagging tails rushes to meet you.
High in Costa Ricaâs mountains sits a no-kill sanctuary called Land of the Strays, or Territorio de Zaguates. Itâs a safe home for more than 1,800 rescued dogs. Big, small, shy, goofy – all kinds, all loved.
Here, dogs roam open fields and nap under the sun. Caretakers feed them, heal them, and help them find families. For the ones who wonât be adopted, the some anctuary is hfor life.
Visitors have joined âpack hikesâ here in the past. Imagine walking a country trail with hundreds of friendly dogs at your feet. Itâs pure joy.
Right now, the sanctuary says public visits are paused while they finish upgrades and sort out timing. They plan to welcome people back when itâs safe. Until then, support and adoptions still keep tails wagging.
This place proves what compassion can build. A second chance, multiplied by a thousand hearts.
