West End star Ben Lewis, best known for his roles in The Phantom of the Opera and Love Never Dies, has died aged 46 after battling bowel cancer. The Australian actorâs passing was confirmed by friend Todd Woodbridge, who called him âone of the greats.â Diagnosed in February 2024, Lewis underwent surgery and chemotherapy, but the cancer spread aggressively. Born into a musical family, he trained in London and Australia, earning acclaim for Love Never Dies. He was also the devoted caregiver to his wife, actress Melle Stewart, following her 2021 stroke. Lewisâs remarkable talent and kindness leave an enduring legacy on stage and in hearts worldwide.
