U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that the Justice Department has completed the public release of records tied to convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. After reviewing millions of pages of emails, photos, flight logs, and investigative files, officials disclosed materials referencing more than 300 high-profile individuals. Bondi stressed that the appearance of a name does not imply wrongdoing, as references range from direct communications to media mentions or contact lists.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said contexts vary widely. Lawmakers including Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna argue internal prosecutorial memos should also be released. Epstein, arrested in 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges, died in jail in a death ruled a suicide. Debate continues over whether the disclosures fully satisfy the law’s intent.
