Life can change in an instant. For one Idaho family, a quiet autumn afternoon in 2022 became a moment forever marked by joy and devastating loss. Three-year-old Scarlett June Jensen died just minutes after a photo was taken of her walking happily beside her two-year-old brother, Henry.
On October 7, 2022, in Oldtown, Idaho, Scarlett and Henry were walking with their grandmother when a speeding Chevrolet Tahoe struck all three on the family’s driveway. Scarlett was killed instantly. Henry suffered critical injuries, and their grandmother was seriously hurt but survived. The driver fled but was later arrested and sentenced to ten years in prison.
The photograph, taken five minutes before Scarlett’s death, was later found on the grandmother’s phone. Though initially painful, Scarlett’s mother now sees it as a symbol of peace, love, and innocence.
Scarlett’s memory lives on through her family’s strength, faith, and enduring love.
