A Sydney mother has described the terrifying moment she was attacked by a massive great white shark while swimming at Coogee Beach. Leah Stewart, 35, was reportedly swimming about 30 metres from shore when the shark dragged her underwater. Determined to survive for her young daughter, Stewart fought back, repeatedly punching the animal until it released her. She suffered severe injuries and blood loss, eventually undergoing multiple surgeries, including the amputation of her left lower arm. After spending days in intensive care, she began a long rehabilitation. Stewart credits the rescuers, medical teams and supporters who helped her survive, calling the experience a second chance at life.
