After disappearing from a New York hospital in the 1970s, Flora Stevens remained missing for 42 years. Her husband, Robert, died in 1985 without learning what happened to her. In 2017, investigators searching for unidentified remains unexpectedly discovered that Flora was alive and living in an assisted living facility under a different name. Suffering from dementia and fiercely private, she never explained her disappearance. Although the mystery remains, authorities were relieved to confirm that she was safe.
