She arrived with internal hemorrhaging, deep lacerations on her legs (photos in comments), and other minor injuries. We were able to stabilize her overnight and get the internal bleeding under control. X-rays revealed minor fractures in both front legs, and her wounds have since been cleaned and treated.
She’s also severely malnourished, suffering from mange, and her bloodwork — along with the excessive bleeding — indicates secondary rodenticide poisoning. Sadly, this is far too common in wildlife exposed to poisoned prey.
She’s had a rough start to life for just 6 months old, but overall… she got pretty lucky.
We’re so grateful to the kind person who made the call, and to the dedicated animal control officer who made the long, late-night trip to get her to us.
She’ll be with us for some time as she heals, but we’re hopeful she’ll make a full recovery. 🙏❤️🐺
