Wally is a senior pit bull who was overlooked for adoption simply because he looked different. What he longed for most was a loving home to spend his final years.
When Wally first arrived at the Town of Islip Animal Shelter, it was clear he had lived a hard life. Around 10 years old, he came in as a stray, and it seemed he had spent most of his life on the streets.

Despite everything he’d been through, all Wally wanted was love. From the beginning, the shelter staff gave him the care and affection he needed.
Wally had several medical issues, including a serious skin infection and blindness in one eye. His unique appearance made it hard for him to get adopted, and he spent over a year in the shelter, waiting.

Veterinary technician Danielle Gorle told The Dodo:
“He loves to drool and would do anything for food. He also enjoys going outside and doing nothing.”
Wally just wanted a calm place to live out his golden years. The shelter feared he’d be overlooked forever—but they still hoped someone would see the sweet, loving soul behind his rough exterior.

He needed a home without stairs, without young kids or other pets, and with a family who could manage his medical needs and love him deeply.
What Wally wants most now is a warm place to cuddle and a family who will love him just as he is—for the rest of his days.
