In West Price Hill, Cincinnati, a tragic scene turned into a miracle when seven newborn puppies, just hours old, were discovered in a sealed garbage bag by workers at a local concrete company. As they moved a dumpster, the workers heard faint squeaks and whines—and what they found was heartbreaking: eight puppies inside a bloody blanket and cooler. Sadly, one had already passed away.

Quick-thinking employees immediately called Cincinnati Animal CARE, who were ready to act the moment the puppies arrived.

“These babies were at serious risk,” said Amanda Gilbert, Medical Director. “They still had long umbilical cords, weren’t tied off, and were dangerously cold. Even a short delay could have been fatal.”

With no mother in sight, the challenge became urgent: keep the puppies alive without their mom’s warmth and care. They were placed in incubators and are being bottle-fed by loving foster families, including Gilbert herself.

The puppies will remain in foster homes and won’t be available for adoption until they’re at least 8 weeks old. For now, they’re safe—warm, fed, and loved.
