In Huaral, Peru, a small Cocker Spaniel mix named Manchis became an unexpected hero after saving her family from a deadly attack. A lit stick of dynamite was thrown through a window of journalist Carlos Alberto Mesías Zarate’s home—believed to be linked to his investigative reporting.

Security footage shows the 25-pound dog rushing toward the explosive. In a split-second decision, Manchis bit into the burning fuse and chewed it until the flame died out—preventing a detonation.
“She chewed it and saved our lives,” Zarate told NBC News.

The device was later confirmed to be a military-grade explosive. Authorities arrested a suspect and are treating the case as attempted intimidation.
Manchis suffered injuries to her vocal cords and can no longer bark—but she continues to live happily with her grateful family.
This heroic act proves that love, loyalty, and courage aren’t measured in size.
