A Rescue Born Out of Desperation
When rescuers first found Andy, he was clinging to life after spending two agonizing days trapped in a septic tank. His paws were raw from desperate attempts to climb out, his face scraped, and his body soaked in contaminated water. Each breath was a fight, yet he held on until help arrived.
Margaret Girardeau and her coworker pulled Andy from the darkness just in time. Though free, his ordeal was far from over. Too weak to walk, Andy had to be carried. His eyes were swollen, his fur reeked despite repeated baths, and eating was difficult. Yet through it all, his gentle spirit gave his rescuers hope.

Slowly, Andy began to heal. Every milestone — his first proper meal, his wobbly steps, and the spark returning to his eyes — was celebrated. Fittingly, he was named Andy Dufresne, after the resilient Shawshank Redemption character.
In foster care, his playful personality emerged. He bonded with his caregivers, learned tricks, and filled his days with joy. When fully recovered, Andy traveled to Canada to meet his forever family.
Today, Andy thrives with love, companionship, and snowy adventures, proving that resilience, compassion, and hope can turn even the darkest story into a bright new beginning.
