A family member called 911 around noon Sunday to report the 84-year-old missing. The search for her is underway by ground and by air.
Nanos says there were concerning circumstances found at Nancy Guthrie’s home and would not rule out foul play. Homicide detectives are also investigating.
Nancy Guthrie is described as a 5-foot, 5-inch white woman with brown hair and blue eyes. She weighs 150 pounds.
The sheriff said Nancy Guthrie has physical limitations but is of sound mind, describing her as “sharp as a tack.” He said this is not a case of an older person getting confused and lost.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
Savannah Guthrie has co-hosted the “Today” show since 2012. Her family has lived in the Tucson area for much of her life.
She recently took a brief hiatus from “Today” to undergo vocal surgery.
