Margaret, a widow, discovers a mysterious wooden crate on her porch containing her late husband Thomas’s old satchel. Inside, she finds a letter and a photograph of Thomas with an unknown teenage boy. Curious, she learns from Thomas’s friend Arthur that the boy is Daniel, Thomas’s son from a previous relationship.
