A confirmed measles case at Chicago O’Hare International Airport has prompted health officials to alert travelers who were in Terminal 1 on April 22 and 23. Because measles can remain airborne for up to two hours after an infected person leaves an area, passengers may have been exposed without realizing it. A second case reported nearby has increased concern about potential spread. Officials are urging anyone who traveled through the airport during that period to verify their MMR vaccination status, monitor for symptoms such as fever, cough, red eyes, and rash, and contact a healthcare provider before visiting a clinic if symptoms develop.
