California’s June primary results show Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass leading with 35% of the vote but short of the majority needed to avoid a runoff. Republican candidate Spencer Pratt is in second place, ahead of City Council member Nithya Raman, making a Bass–Pratt runoff increasingly likely. Supporters say Pratt’s campaign has gained traction due to voter concerns about crime, homelessness, wildfires, and economic issues. Pratt has also filed an election complaint against Bass, alleging illegal electioneering near a ballot drop box, an accusation her campaign rejects.
