According to the supplied announcement, Tom Skerritt died on October 22, 2026, from natural causes, with the information attributed to his publicist. That report has not been independently verified here. Across more than six decades, Skerritt built a distinguished career in film and television, lending depth and humanity to characters who could command a room without raising their voices. His work reflected a kind of understated craftsmanship that made supporting performances feel central to a story.

Audiences knew him as Dallas in Alien, Viper in Top Gun, and the Reverend Maclean in A River Runs Through It. On television, his portrayal of Sheriff Jimmy Brock in Picket Fences earned him an Emmy Award.
